boudoir photographyGetting married is a stressful time in a bride’s life. Every little detail of the wedding has to be considered from where and when to colors to wedding accessories to undergarments. Not many brides take time out for themselves or to personalize a wedding gift for the groom. Why not consider boudoir photography. It may not be a traditional gift but it’s definitely one you groom will never forget.

There are many types of boudoir photography to consider and different eras you can choose to look like. A bride can choose to be completely sexy and bold or she can be subtle. Boudoir photographers will usually have different styles for a bride to look at in his or her portfolio. The 1940′s pinup is a popular option. Alberta Vargas would be a woman to think of when trying to reproduce the 40′s pinup. For the 40′s pinup style a bride would show skin, but there would be no nudity. Everything would be an innuendo. A hint of look but don’t touch.

If you are thinking the 50′s style is what you want to look like then you are thinking of Marilyn Monroe. Yes she was the first woman to grace the cover of Playboy, but you do not have to go to that extreme. Marilyn has many other picture references you can choose from. She was one of the first to pose in a two piece bathing suit and let’s not forget the infamous halter dress photo. If glamour is how you want the pictures for your groom to look then find some old Marilyn Monroe photos and go for that look.

Another option the bride may want to consider is long evening gowns with boas wrapped around them for effect.

More than anything you want to be comfortable in your skin and the right photographer can help with that. Meet with several and ask questions like Do they offer boudoir photography? Have they any sample photos to show you? Can you bring a friend with you on the day of the photo shoot? What is the cost? Do they put together a photo album or do you just buy prints? Can you purchase the negatives? If a photographer does not sell the negatives make sure you get something in writing stating that he or she does not have the right to publish these photos without your consent and remember to have fun.
