Wedding bouquets are an important aspect to any wedding, defining the style and tone of the occasion. Most couples are at a loss as to where to begin when choosing a wedding bouquet. You need to consider whether you want live flowers, silk flowers, color schemes and styles. Use this information and a little creativity to pick out the right bouquet that will please you both for this very special occasion.
As you browse through wedding accessories catalogs and bridal materials you may see several different styles, but in actuality there are three basic types with many variations. These types are the sheath, teardrop and posy bouquets. The sheath is a long floral arrangement typically held along the length of the forearm. A teardrop shaped bouquet is wide from the top and tapers down to a point. Posy bouquets are very popular for many weddings and they are shaped in a simple circle.
The bride to be should select a style, flowers and colors that you like and fit well with you body shape. Determine the shape, colors, flowers types, size and type of greenery for the bouquet. Keep in mind that flower girl bouquets will probably be in the same color scheme that you select.
Just like selecting clothing that flatters your body style, the same can be said for selecting a bouquet. Some styles may be unflattering, while others enhance your beauty. For short women a sheath or teardrop shape helps to add a bit of height. Very tall women may not want their height accentuated and should therefore use a medium teardrop or a large posy. This draws the focal point from their height to the bouquet. Larger women can use a large bouquet that will make them look slimmer.
Another choice to be considered is fresh or silk flowers. Some people will always think fresh are prettier, they can be preserved and there is definitely something to be said about the beautiful fragrance. Silk flowers are normally cheaper and can be saved as a memento of the wedding day.
Choose colors that compliment each other. Use a color wheel to determine what colors work well together or your own common sense and creativity. Silk flowers are available in most colors, so you have your choice. Live flowers have color limitations for some varieties that do not naturally come in some colors. Special flower varieties may have the color you require, but often they can be expensive.
Your wedding is a very special time so choose your style and colors well for a beautiful, memorable day.
