Having a dessert bar at your wedding is one of the best party catering decisions any couple can make. A dessert bar is universally popular among both hosts and guests. It can have many distinct advantages over a fixed dessert choice.
Often when dessert is passed around it sits on the plate untouched to be thrown away at the end of the night. This is frustrating for hosts who have wasted money on unused food and can also be frustrating for guests depending on their reasons for not indulging. Some don’t like sweets, some need a break between courses but often it is a matter of just not liking the particular dessert selected by the hosts.
A dessert bar solves both the problem of waste and of choice. Even the pickiest eater will find something to enjoy when faced with an entire bar full of choices. Any food that is left over at the dessert bar can be easily packed up for departing guests, hosts or even servers. Leftovers from the bar are much appealing than a slice of cake that has beens sitting on a plate for three hours.
If certain guests have food allergies or religious restrictions a food bar is an easy solution. Guests can easily avoid peanuts or dairy or whatever their particular limitation is while still happily indulging in a favorite dessert. Even if the limitation is only that the guest is very selective in their food choices they’ll certainly be able to find something they like when presented with so many choices.
A dessert bar is a great choice for a wedding, whether large or small. This way the hosts can accept compliments about the multiple sweets rather than having to deal with veiled complaints about the flan. There is less waste, more satisfaction and as a bonus a dessert table can be a lovely addition to the decor of the room. What’s not to like?
